Summaries for communications proposals should be sent with the attached form to the Congress organization, according to the following criteria:
Length: Between 700 and 1000 words, in 12-point Times New Roman font with standard spacing (single spaced).
Languages: Communications can be submitted in any of the official languages (Basque, Catalan, Galician, Spanish) as long as those not submitted in Spanish include a translation into this language.
Contents: All summaries should contain the following information:
a) Communication Information.
- Title
- General topical area to which it belongs (See list)
b) Author Information.
- Surname, First Name
- E-mail address
- Institution to which position or profession pertains
c) Contents of Work.
- Type of contribution (briefly describe whether it is a theoretical reflection, quantitative and/or qualitative empirical research, a case study, a comparative study….).
- Description of primary objective or topic of contribution.
- Sources of information used
- Methodology
- Primary results, conclusions or contributions.
d) Other aspects that may be considered of interest (location of research projects…)
General topical areas. The authors should assign one of the following general topics to their proposal. If an appropriate placement cannot be found, another can be proposed or the section can be left blank in order for the scientific committee to classify it.
1.- Modern Migration: Trends, Theories, Methods.
Current migratory trends and systems. Globalization, climate change, complexity of mobility…). Migratory theory, explicit models and conceptual challenges. Methodologies for research on migration: epistemological focuses, sources and difficulties.
2.- Migratory policies. Legal framework: citizenship and Human Rights.
Human mobility and border control. Spanish immigration policy and its administrative development. Spanish legal framework: citizenship and rights.
3.- Economy and job markets.
Migration and social-labor stratification. Job market and programs specific to foreign laborers (worker recruitment, circular temporary work migration, seasonal migration…). Economy and migration (crisis impact…)
4.- Immigration, school and the educational system.
Innovative educational experiences in immigration. Educational policies for equality, power relations and conflict. New research perspectives on education and immigration.
5.- Socio-cultural diversity and integration.
Acculturation, adaptation and identity. Integration models, areas and policies. Geographical areas for coexistence: town, neighborhood, city. Administrative models and experiences with cultural diversity. Immigrant social participation.
6.- Images, perceptions and attitudes with regard to immigration.
The social construct of the immigrant: political discourse, the media, prejudices and stereotypes. Discrimination, racism and xenophobia.
7.- Immigration and gender.
Gender identity and relations. The migrant woman. The migrant man.
8.- Mobility, development and social, transnational spaces.
Transnationalism and migratory networks: transnational spaces and practices; links between origin and destination. Co-development and developmental cooperation in migratory contexts: migration and development; remittances.
9.- The children of migrants: identity(ies) and integration.
